Depending on the age and use of your Jeep Wrangler JK, some hinges may be in better or worse condition than others. (In either case, it is never a bad time to replace the bushings.) Many Jeeps that do not frequently take their doors off face stiff, corroded hinge bushings. If you are looking for a cleaner, more durable hinge bushing, Kikbax Hinge Bushings are a fit.
Tools: Hammer, 9mm socket head, mini socket extension, block of wood, sand paper (not included)
Step 1: (Remove Doors…) Removal of the original door hinge bushings of your 2 Door Jeep Wrangler JK. Connect the 9mm socket head to the mini socket extension. Insert the 9mm socket head into the bottom of the Jeep Wrangler JK Hinge. With a hammer, carefully tap the old door hinge bushings out. (Be careful not to hit the paint while tapping) Once the bushing starts coming out, some will remove by pulling. If not, keep tapping it until the whole bushing is removed. Your socket might get stuck in the hinge. Use the mini socket extension to tap it out.
Step 2: Prepare the hinge. Be sure there is no debris or remnants of the old bushings still in the hinge. (Most hinges we have seen have a little corrosion and/or dust and dirt) The cleaner the hinges the better the fitment.
Step 3: Insert the Kikbax Hinge Bushing into the Jeep Wrangler Door JK Hinge. Push it in finger tight. Using the block of wood between the bushing and hammer, tap the block of wood with the hammer until the Kikbax Hinge Bushing sits on top of the Jeep Wrangler JK Hinge.
Step 4: Repeat the process on the remaining 3 Jeep Wrangler JK Hinges.
